''The greatest and most beautiful compliment is a full restaurant and guests who love to come back!''

Chef Edward de Ridder winner of the Golden Spoon (2014) and Culinary Hat (2017). He cooked for Barack Obama, the Dutch National Team, the Royal Family and the Dalai Lama; now he captures many culinary hearts at Hotel Nassau Breda and Restaurant Liefdegesticht.

He started at a young age at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk, where he worked his way up to Sous-chef within six years.
Later on he was involved in the start-up of The Park; restaurant Bilderberg Parkhotel Rotterdam. With his great ambition Edward later set up the successful NY Basement in the historic Hotel New York in Rotterdam. His successes did not go unnoticed; with his three most recent restaurants he earned a spot in the Michelin guide and Gault & Millau.

Edward describes his cooking style as French with influences from the Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. With his creativity and new ideas, it is very important to Edward that what he serves is really good: "Every plate you serve to your guests should be one that you envy you didn't get to eat yourself, and small details should create a wow effect!"

For Edward, cooking means creating a recipe, where you put energy and creativity in. That's why the biggest and most beautiful compliment for him is a full restaurant and guests who love to come back!''
